Presidential spox says sanctions against Nord Stream-2 violate law
MOSCOW, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- The U.S. sanctions against Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream-2 violate international law, and both Russia and Europe oppose them, spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.
“Such actions are disliked by both Moscow and the European capitals, disliked by Berlin and Paris. Such actions are, in fact, direct violation of international law, an ideal example of unfair competition and spread of one’s artificial domination on the European markets. Imposition of a more expensive and non-competitive as a consequence product, I mean, a costly natural gas,” Peskov said.
The U.S. Senate approved on Tuesday the defense budget including spending on counteraction to Russia in various areas including sanctions against Nord Stream-2.
Peskov also said that the Kremlin presumes that the Nord Stream-2 project will be finished in spite of the sanctions.
